Greyhound Racing NSW celebrates the athleticism of the dogs ahead of the TAB Million Dollar Chase
Greyhound Racing NSW has launched a campaign to promote the second year of the TAB Million Dollar Chase.
The campaign, titled ‘Poetry in Motion’, seeks to showcase the grace and athleticism of the greyhounds as they run by featuring last year’s race winner, Mystic Riot.
Proceeds of the tickets to the race will be donated to Greyhound Racing’s not-for-profit initiative, Greyhounds As Pets.
Tony Mestrov, CEO of Greyhound Racing NSW, said: “This is a tremendous and very significant event for greyhound racing, which will showcase our sport to a much wider audience. This historic telecast will mean that our race – the world’s richest greyhound race – can now be seen in the living rooms of all Australians. I’m delighted that this event, through ticketing proceeds and donations, will support our GAP program, which is a key plank in the industry’s commitment to rehoming retired racing dogs.”
Banjo’s managing partner, Andrew Varasdi, said: “We’ve been working closely with Greyhound Racing NSW to develop a campaign that not only drives awareness to the world’s richest greyhound race but celebrates and continues to educate people about what magnificent athletes and animals greyhounds are in every way.”
The Million Dollar Chase will be broadcast live on free-to-air television on 9Gem on 18 October.
The campaign can be seen across digital and print in The Daily Telegraph, and on Nine and Sky Racing.

I think the line you’re looking for is “showcase the grace and athleticism of the greyhounds as they’re shot a buried for under-performing.” Animals aren’t sport.

Why didnt you get comment from friends of the hound or greyhound rescue? The people who give up time money and floorspace for the dogs once this degenerate industry sees them as trash?

No thanks. Grubby excuse for a sport. No fun for the dogs. Put down for broken leg. I bet they won’t show the poor dog writhing in pain on track.

Animal exploitation industries called “racing” as well as betting industries are both disgusting. Both profit from the misfortune of all those unfortunate enough to get ensnared by them. At least “ladbrokes” is honest as its name clearly states that it aims to cause financial ruin to young gullible males. “tab” on the other hand is far less honest about its aims.

How was this exploitation de-banned? NSW was to set the ball rolling and be a voice for these ‘mostly’ used and abused dogs…only those who profited from this were the ones to bring it back in the name of ‘business’ and jobs. Baird was brave to ban this “sport” . How many people in society or reading this article actually support this sport… There needs to be a public vote… It is the trainers who dope and flog their animals to make them and their funders more cash, not all.. but many, the dogs are just the pawn… it is also a perfect haven for drug pushers and money laundering.
