GroupM has poached Venessa Hunt from Yahoo7 for the newly-created position of head of mobile.

Hunt has been with the joint-venture publisher for almost two years in the role of head of mobile strategy and advertising, and previously headed up Exponential’s mobile division Appsnack.

GroupM chief digital officer, John Miskelly, said of Hunt, in a statement: “She is without doubt one of leading thinkers on mobility within APAC and having her on board will help solidify and strengthen our expertise in this area.

“The addition of Venessa to the team builds upon our market leading digital position across our agencies, Xaxis, GroupM Connect and Plista.”

GroupM agencies also include Mediacom, Mindshare, Maxus and MEC.

In the statement Hunt said: “GroupM is in a very unique position to fundamentally challenge our industry on the opportunities for mobile advertising. I look forward to working with the teams and their clients to make a positive change and meaningful impact for brands, the agencies and the industry as a whole.”

Yahoo7 has been approached for comment.
