Gruen Planet closes with season ratings best

Last night’s final episode of Gruen Planet for 2012 ended on a high note.

The advertising analysis show, featuring Leo Burnett Sydney boss Todd Sampson and Ten’s new executive GM Russel Howcroft, received its highest ratings for the season, for both Gruen Planet and its Olympic version Gruen Sweat.

The show was also ABC1’s highest rating program for the night.

Across the five city metro market, the show rated 1.038m viewers, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.

The show was fourth in total viewers for the night, and won its 8.30pm time slot.

Across the three key advertising demographics, the show improved on its total viewer ranking while remaining top in its time slot.

In the 18-49 demo, Gruen was second behind Big Brother’s daily show, while in 16-39 the ad show was third behind Big Brother Little Sister and the Big Brother’s daily show. In 25-54, it was third behind Seven’s Surveillance Oz and Big Brother’s daily show.

While Big Brother did well in the demos, it had one of its quieter nights in total viewers, in ninth position with 886,000 viewers.

Seven’s Surveillance Oz was the night’s top show across all viewers, rating 1.1m. It was first in 25-54, third in 18-49, sixth in 16-39.

The Chaser: Hamster Wheel rated 795,000 in total viewers, lifting to fourth in 16-39, sixth in 18-49, and seventh in 25-54.

In the battle for the early morning viewer, Nine’s Today and Seven’s Sunrise were dead level, both rating with 356,000. Today won in Sydney and Melbourne while Sunrise won in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

American Pickers was the highest rating show across the multi-channels. The two-hour show rated 268,000 for 7mate. While it rated just 33,000 in Sydney, its big numbers came in Melbourne, with 118,000 viewers.
