Gruen returns to television with 903,000 viewers, beats The Bachelor’s second last episode

ABC’s panel show Gruen returned to television last night with 903,000 metro viewers, down on last years debut of 954,000, as The Block won the evening for Nine.

Gruen was the sixth most watched show for the evening and was the third most watched program for key advertising demographics 18-49 and 25-54, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Ahead of Gruen’s season premiere last night, Mumbrella conducted an interview with host Wil Anderson.

At 7.30pm The Block took out the top spot on the ratings ladder with 1.116m metro viewers tuning in.

The renovation show beat The Bachelor’s second last episode, which saw Matty J eliminate crowd favourite Tara. attracting an audience of 816,000.

Seven’s 7.30pm competitor, Border Security, managed 605,000 viewers in the time slot.

Winning Wednesday night television was Nine with an overall audience share of 22.2%, beating Seven’s 16.7% and Ten’s 15.2% share.

Meanwhile ABC grabbed a 12.6% share ahead of SBS’ 4.9%.

Nine News and Seven News both attracted the same audience number for the 6pm news, both averaging 945,000 metro viewers.
