Hard Quiz tops Wednesday entertainment as Nine takes a nightly win

ABC gameshow Hard Quiz has triumphed over the commercial networks in entertainment programming, with an average of 662,000 metro viewers tuning in on Wednesday night.

The program has topped Wednesday night non-news on multiple occasions this year, and last night beat Travel Guides, Big Brother and MasterChef Australia, among other titles.

Nine’s Travel Guides was ranked second in non-news, with 648,000 metro viewers, ahead of Seven’s Home And Away’s 628,000 and The Chase Australia’s 591,000 which tied with Ten’s MasterChef for metro viewers.

Big Brother bought in 586,000 metro viewers for Seven, while Sean Micallef’s Mad As Hell was watched by 564,000 metro viewers on the ABC.

The key advertising demos were split three ways, with MasterChef taking people 16-39, Big Brother winning 18-49 and Seven News taking 25-54 among metro audiences.

The #1 program on Wednesday was Seven News, which aired to an average of 1.065 million metro viewers.

But Nine was the winner overall on the night, taking out a 29.5% network share over Seven’s 26.0%, Ten’s 19.5% and ABC’s 17.5%. Nine also had the top rating primary channel, with a 19.5% share.

The top-rating multi-channel was 10 Bold with a 4.7% share.
