Hatched hires Andrew Pascoe as strategy director

Melbourne-based independent media agency Hatched has made three hires recently, including Andrew Pascoe as strategy director.

MD of the agency Jack Byrne said his aim throughout the pandemic had been to retain all staff, but there had also been scope for growth.

“While our goal was to ensure we retained all staff throughout this challenging period – a goal we are proud to say we have achieved – we also see this as a great opportunity to double-down by investing an accelerating the capabilities of the agency and help clients navigate a challenging market both now and into the future,” he said.

Pascoe spent almost four years at WPP AUNZ’s Maxus (now Wavemaker) in roles including national planning director and Melbourne strategy director. He has been freelancing and teaching since mid 2017.

He said he was pleased to be joining Hatched at this time.

“Independent agencies play an important role in the agency landscape, including helping to power some of the best marketers and brands by being honest and adaptable. And Hatched is amongst the best of the bunch. I’m really happy to have joined the team at this point in their journey,” he said.

In addition, Aaron Hackett has joined as performance director. Hackett has worked at OMD, but most recently was director of performance at Wavemaker. He specialises in SEO, SEM, CRO and digital strategy.

Hackett is also working on a sci-fi novel, The Amber Table

“Hatched are a people-first business and not focused on just delivering a number to London or New York,” he said. “They proved their amazing culture and values to me by hiring during a pandemic, and it has been a fantastic, albeit socially distanced, welcome.”

Julie Rugani has also come on board as digital analyst and operations manager. She joins from REA Group.

Rugani was previously a digital campaign manager

Last year, the agency appointed Adrian Roeling as managing partner, and Rebecca Den Braber as head of digital.
