Promoted: Sjogren and Smith

CEO of Havas Worldwide, Anthony Gregorio, said, in a statement: “I’m delighted to see Dan move into this new role and extend his exceptional leadership across further areas of the business while still playing a pivotal part on the DFR (Defence Force Recruiting) account.

“The appointment of Dan and Ben is another step in our global strategy of bringing advertising, media and PR disciplines closer together.”

Mike Wilson, CEO of Havas Media, said: “Ben is one of the Australian media industry’s best creative and strategic minds. He thoroughly deserves this exciting new role and we’re looking forward to continuing to drive the agency’s growth with Ben at the helm.”

According to the agency, the creation of the two new roles comes after a growth spurt at both agencies over the past 12 months, with the total headcount at Havas in Sydney now over 240.

Smith previously occupied the role of client services director and for the past 18 months has lead a team of more than 50 on the Defence Force Recruiting account.

Sjogren was one of the first employees of Havas Media when the licence reverted from Dentsu Aegis back to Havas in this market.

Since 2013, Sjogren has helped Havas Media move from a start-up to an agency with 60 staff. Sjogren continues to be in charge of operations and is helping lead new business, having led pitches on two of the agency’s major account wins QBE and Douwe Egberts.
