Hawaiian Airlines reappoints Heather Jeffery for Oceania representation

Heather Jeffery returns as Hawaiian Airlines’ representative in the Oceania region.

The announcement:

Aviation Public Relations specialist Heather Jeffery has been reappointed to represent Hawaiian Airlines (HA), now part of the Alaska Airlines Group (AS), in Oceania markets.

Jeffery, an airline and tourism communications specialist, also assisted Solomon Airlines to launch the carrier’s first trans-Tasman service inaugurating flights from Auckland to Brisbane in February. She is also media and comms advisor to Nauru Airlines.

“I’m thrilled to continue representing Hawaiian, especially with the incredible potential coming down the line for customers following the combination of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.

“Both are stand-out airlines, beloved brands, in an industry which can look same same and not so different. Both are rich with stories, contemporary carriers underpinned by 90 and 95 year legacies with deep and genuine commitments to people, culture and environment.”

As former general manager corporate comms for the Virgin Blue Airlines Group for six years, Jeffery is no stranger to the highs and lows of aviation and tourism. She was also head of media and comms for the Ansett Australia Group of companies managing the fall out at the time of the company’s collapse, and consulting to Qantas International, following the 2003 restructuring of the national carrier.

Stepping away from corporate, she founded her own specialist consultancy The PR Team attracting clients including Hawaiian Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, Alliance Airlines, Solomon Airlines, Globus family of brands, aviation specialist law from Norton White, Chile Tourism, Argentina and Colombia and bespoke air tour company Constellation Journeys. She also managed media relations for the Dalai Lama’s Australian visits in 2011, 2013 and 2015.

“The covid pandemic changed the game for us all and not in a bad way, when 90% of our clients disappeared overnight as international borders closed and airlines ceased operations. We didn’t as much pivot as stay put working remotely, and stayed in touch with our aviation clients who were doing it equally as tough as we were, we did whatever we could to support them.

“We also found great new clients in the childcare sector, asset protection, finance who suddenly had emerging comms and media requirements as a direct result of the pandemic.

Having long since leased her office, Jeffery is a now hybrid convert, working from several cities, her home in Brisbane and a rural property in Northern New South Wales.

“In my aircraft collection I have a red and white Virgin Galactic rocket, it gives me Jetson vibes, like a quirky souvenir from Tijuana. It was sent from Half Moon Street London after I wrote a press release for Virgin Galactic 20 years ago.” she said.

“I love it, because even though it bears no resemblance to VSS Unity, it’s a great reminder that vision is one thing, execution is another and success is all about your ability to constantly adjust your flightpath.”

Now in its 95th year of continuous service, Hawaiian Airlines is Hawaiʻi’s hometown carrier and the state’s largest and longest-serving airline offering flights five times weekly from Sydney to Honolulu connecting with 150 daily flights within the Hawaiian Islands, and nonstop flights between Hawaiʻi and 16 U.S. gateway cities. Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. is now a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group.

Consumer surveys by Condé Nast Traveler and TripAdvisor have placed Hawaiian among the top of all domestic airlines serving Hawaiʻi. The carrier has topped Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best list as the No. 1 U.S. airline for the past two years.
