Hayu and Telstra offer billing integration

Telstra TV customers will now be able to add Hayu to their bill, in an attempt to build on an existing partnership.

The announcement:

NBCUniversal International’s next generation, subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) reality TV service, hayu, and Australian technology company Telstra today announced the launch of carrier billing integration for the hayu app on Telstra TV.

Telstra TV customers will now have the option to add the streaming service to their Telstra bill, bringing together more of their entertainment expenses into one simple monthly payment. hayu is the third streaming service to offer carrier billing, firmly cementing the brand as a major player in the Australian market.

In addition to the billing convenience, Telstra TV customers who are new to hayu will also receive a complimentary three month trial of the service.

Of the partnership, Andrew Every, Director of Media Commercial, Strategy & Go-to-market at Telstra said: “We’re delighted that thanks to hayu our Telstra TV customers can access a three month trial subscription to the best reality TV the world has to offer, simply by being a Telstra broadband customer.”

The billing integration and customer promotion follows the addition of hayu onto the second generation Telstra TV last October, and is a major milestone in delivering on hayu’s promise to provide Australian consumers with great value international reality TV content, wherever and whenever they want it.

Hendrik McDermott, SVP, Branded On-Demand Entertainment, NBCUniversal International commented: “Telstra is a world class technology company and we are proud to support their vision for the new Telstra TV. With Telstra’s impressive national footprint, this extended integration has been designed to broaden the distribution and consumption of hayu across Australia.”

With hayu users having expressed a voracious appetite for a breadth of top-quality reality content, Hendrik explains this news for Telstra customers has come at an opportune time, with new content dropping on the service. “It’s our subscribers’ enthusiasm that has prompted us to expand our curation beyond NBCU’s pipeline of top-quality day and date content to offer other reality favourites through strategic acquisitions. Over the coming months, hayu subscribers will be treated to several binge-worthy box set drops, including the new additions from this past week – Dance Moms and Love & Hip Hop New York.”
