Heinz looks for the country’s best AFL half-time chefs for the Footy Ketch-Cup

Heinz knows you want total control over your ketchup delivery systems during the upcoming AFL Finals series. In fact, their own research found that 39% of us bring our own food and condiments to live matches to avoid any unforeseen snafus.

With this delicious statistic in mind, Heinz has partnered with Melbourne Demons’ linchpin Christian Petracca to launch the Heinz Footy Ketch-Cup – a nationwide search for the best home chefs and their game-changing half-time recipes, all of which rely on a heroic splash of Heinz Tomato Ketchup to get them over the line.

Mixed sporting metaphors aside, for this tasty initiative from Eleven and TBWA, eight home chefs will go tongs to tongs on the eve of the AFL semi-finals, with a fan-vote separating the almost-rans from the glorious Heinz Footy Ketch-Cup winner – who will also score tickets to the 2023 Toyota AFL Grand Final for their services to our nation.

Andrea Payne, head of marketing at Heinz said of the competition: “From BBQs with mates to a family meal, Heinz Ketchup has been bringing fans, footy and food together since the dawn of time.

“We’re a competitive bunch when it comes to club rivalry, as the new research shows that over half of Aussies rate themselves as one of the best home cooks, just like how they support the better AFL team. Heinz Ketchup wants to know once and for all, which AFL team really has the best home chefs and halftime meals?”

This new research also shows that 60% of Australian AFL fans actually prefer to stay home to watch the game to make their own food – showing a growing legion of sauce connoisseurs who simply cannot risk a lesser condiment spoiling game day.

In regards to ketchup-driven, footy-related meals, the best half time food among Australian fans is hot chips with ketchup, followed by meat pies with ketchup, sausage rolls and ketchup, and in a distant fourth – a burger with ketchup.

And now you know.
