Hero appoints first Sydney-based strategy director

Former AKQA Media strategy specialist Maya Mausli has joined Hero in the newly created Sydney-based role of strategy director.

Mausli spent two-and-half-years at AKQA Media , but less than six months in her last role as strategy partner.

She lists Samsung, Amazon, H&M, Ferrari, Afterpay and Disney among her previous clients.

Mausli said Hero puts creativity “at the heart of everything it does”.

“The role is every strategist’s dream – nuanced and engaging with the opportunity to solve a number of complex client business challenges and, after watching amazing work developed by Hero from afar for quite some time, I couldn’t think of a better agency to be part of,” she said.

Chief operating officer James Greet said: “We are excited to bring on fresh, diverse talent that is integrated in their approach and thinking. This will help us continue to build on Hero’s national proposition of Borderless creativity.”

Meanwhile, Hero has also bolstered its creative department with the appointments of Lucy Karsai and Alister Hill while Mitch Hatton has joined the client service team.

The appointment of Mausli follows a series of recent wins for the agency, including Toyota, Maybelline New York and eBay.
