Highsnobiety and Semi Permanent announce strategic partnership in Australia

Media brand Highsnobiety and design business Semi Permanent have announced a strategic partnership to bring immersive experiences to Australia.

The announcement:

Highsnobiety announces a strategic collaboration with Sydney-based design group Semi Permanent, launching in early 2021 with high impact, omni-channel consumer experiences both locally and globally.

The joint venture is designed to satisfy an untapped appetite for consumer experiences that push the bar for how brands can connect with audiences. The partnership unifies Highsnobiety’s highly engaged digital audience and network of streetwear and luxury brands with Semi Permanent’s extensive creative network and 18+ years immersive event experience.

“We’ve always believed that Australia and New Zealand sets a high bar for excellence in design, style, technology and business, and we’re always looking for innovative ways to tell new stories” says Semi Permanent founder Murray Bell. “Highsnobiety’s ability to translate fast-moving cultural trends into engaging editorial and commercial strategy, coupled with our shared obsession of experiences that connect with consumers, makes this a perfect opportunity to create some really game-changing work for audiences, and the brands we love.”

“Expanding into Australia has been a key priority for us for some time now. We are excited to bring the Highsnobiety brand to life in this already highly engaged market. It opens up many exciting possibilities for us and we are thrilled to partner with Semi Permanent to make it all happen,” David Fischer, Highsnobiety Founder & CEO.

Australian readers are no stranger to Highsnobiety, with Sydney and Melbourne accounting for two of its 10 most concentrated audiences despite the US, Euro and Asia-centric nature of the brands and culture it covers.

The challenges of 2020 have had an enormous impact on Australian fashion and lifestyle publishers, with major players withdrawing from the local market in the last eight months for lack of resources, innovation, or both. By tapping into the cultural pioneers Highsnobiety speaks to, as well as the innovative expertise for which Semi Permanent is renowned, the venture leads with the creativity, storytelling and technology the current climate craves.

Additional ventures and events planned for 2021, including those in international markets, will be announced at a later date.
