History Will Be Kind appointed as ChristchurchNZ agency of record

Creative communications agency History Will Be Kind (HWBK) has been appointed the account for ChristchurchNZ following a competitive pitch process.

HWBK will support post-pandemic recovery and beyond for the New Zealand city’s economic development and promotions agency, showcasing the best Christchurch has to offer and building destination awareness and driving visitation from Australian travellers.

From stunning natural scenery to adventure, art and culture, the best in relaxation plus incredible food and wine, the HWBK team will showcase all that Christchurch has to offer, building destination awareness and driving visitation for Australian travellers to support the city’s post pandemic recovery and beyond.

ChristchurchNZ head of tourism, Kath Low said the organisation was delighted to appoint HWBK to build Christchurch’s reputation as a world class city and the gateway to explore New Zealand’s South Island.

“HWBK are experts at what they do with a strong network of contacts and the smarts to help put Christchurch on the map for Australians. The team demonstrated stand-out passion matched with sharp insights, integrated strategic thinking and creativity – all of which will help us supercharge awareness, curiosity and desire amongst travellers.”

HWBK business director, Edwina Brook, said the team was delighted to partner with ChristchurchNZ, with a focus on delivering true business impact.

“We love our neighbours from across the Tasman and are excited to come on board to help ChristchurchNZ tackle this challenge at a time when the consumer travel mindset is shifting and the path to booking evolves. It’s a brilliant opportunity to use creative storytelling to showcase a breathtaking and relatively undiscovered destination right on our doorstep.

“ChristchurchNZ joins a stellar line up of brands in our growing travel portfolio, including Celebrity Cruises, Webjet, Sydney Airport and Etihad, who we’re thrilled to have retained once again and who will have an increasing focus on sustainability and innovation-led communications. It’s amazing to see the travel sector booming once more and we have loved being part of the industry’s story of recovery, resilience and resurgence.”

HWBK is part of independent, digital communications and innovation consultancy group, Deepend Group. The portfolio includes Deepend (Digital), How To Impact (Innovation), Nomad (Emerging Tech) and History Will Be Kind (Communications).
