Hit and Triple M launch on Amazon Alexa

Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit and Triple M networks are launching on Amazon Alexa.

The announcement:

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) continues to integrate its news, sport and entertainment content onto connected services as they announce from 1 February, Hit Network and Triple M flash briefings will be available for Amazon Alexa.

Listeners can now add Triple M news and sports updates, as well as news, entertainment and celebrity news from the Hit Network to their personalized flash briefing, which they can then play simply by asking “Alexa, what’s the news?” The briefings are short, on demand pieces of audio and radio’s spoken word updates which are an ideal news source for users of connected speakers.

SCA’s Chief Creative Office, Guy Dobson says, “Connected home products like the Amazon Echo and other Alexa enabled devices will only become more and more popular with Australians and we will continue to lead in this space, making sure our content is easy to find from anywhere that our listeners want to find it.”

“Like radio, we will be updating our content several times a day but importantly it is always available to the listener on demand.”

At launch, briefings will be available for the major metro markets, but this may be extended to other markets in the future.

Today’s news follows SCA’s announcement in November 2017 that its Hit Network and Triple M news and sports briefings are available on the Google Assistant suite of connected speaker products including the Google Home.
