Home and Away trifecta wins the night for Seven
Channel Seven won last night’s television battle with the help of three back-to-back Home and Away episodes leading up to the show’s final week.
Last night’s three back-to-back episode’s of Home and Away, airing on Seven at 7:00pm was the most watched non-news program of the night, managing 606,000 to make it slightly down from last week’s 638,000, according to OzTAM’s metro overnight ratings.
Home and Away topped its time slot, beating Ten’s The Project which managed 444,000, a slight gain on last week’s figure of 416,000.
Airing at 7:30pm and running through Home and Away, Nine’s Greatest Getaways saw 505,000 tune in, while Ten’s repeat of David Attenborough’s Big Birds attracted 473,000.
Nine aired the famous fashion runway show Victoria’s Secret at 8:30pm, which drew 465,000 viewers in to see Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and Bruno Mars perform with the models.
The show was the most watched for people aged 18-49 and the second most watched for those between 16 and 39.
Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, which aired at the same time on Seven, managed 412,000 viewers, while Ten’s Law and Order: Special Victims Unit repeat obtained 381,000.
In the 6:00pm news battle, Seven won the night with 889,000 viewers, beating Nine’s 773,000.
At 6:30pm, Seven’s Today Tonight took out the top spot of the night with 912,000 while Nine News attracted 761,000.
Sydney’s Nine News said goodbye to Ken Sutcliffe as he presented his last sports bulletin, the emotional farewell managed 197,000 viewers for the state.
In total audience share Seven won the night with 18.2% ahead of Nine’s 17.5%, Ten’s 13.8%, ABC’s 11.4%, and SBS’s 3.9%.
Ratings period of non-rating period, it says something about the pathetic state of free to air commercial TV in this country when back to back episodes of Home And Away is the most exciting thing to talk about. Good book anyone?
