Honda creates bottled water brand to promote hydrogen powered car
Honda has launched a bottled water company as a stunt to promote the fact its FCX model only produces water as it runs on hydrogen.
With the help of Leo Burnett Melbourne, Honda Australia has launched H20, as a representation of the emissions from the car, with the company positioning itself with more green credentials.
Honda Australia general manager communications and customer Jason Miller said: “We believe in ‘The Power of Clever Thinking’. Our work designing cars like the FCX is the embodiment of this ethos. H2O is an engaging way for us to demonstrate our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint to people, instead of simply telling them.”
Leo Burnet Melbourne head of copy Sarah McGregor said: “H2O is a simple but tactile demonstration of Honda’s clever thinking. The kind of thinking that continues to redefine the car category.”
H2O was distributed in Palace Cinemas nationally.

What about the fact that the production of plastic bottles requires millions of barrels of oil per year and the transportation of bottled water from its source to stores releases thousands of tons of carbon dioxide. Only around 13% of plastic bottles end up being recycled while the rest ends up in landfills. Plastic bottles take centuries to decompose and if they are incinerated, toxic byproducts, such as chlorine gas and ash containing heavy metals, are released into the atmosphere.
