The audience marked an impressive increase on last Monday’s 1.652 million for the renovation show, when the swivel chair singing contest’s 1.575 million according to the OzTam Overnight ratings.

The Voice remains strongest in Sydney where it managed to beat House Rules 495,000 to 470,000, however in Perth House Rules took 293,000 to The Voice’s 128,000 while in Adelaide it was House Rules 208,000 to The Voice’s 147,000.

The return of Nine’s House Husbands at 9pm was a tale of diminishing returns after the series three premiere drew just 891,000 – well short of the 1.135 million who watched the series two return last year, and even further off the 1.578 million who watched the first episode of season one.

Seven won the overall audience share for the night with 28.8 per cent of viewers, with Nine a distant second with 22.7 per cent, a result helped by Nine News which drew 1.367 million viewers and Nine News 6.30pm drawing 1.298 million.

Ten took 10.3 per cent of the overall audience without a single show entering the top Ten after 24: Live Another Day bombed for another week with just 313,000 viewers in the prime 8.30pm slot – less than watched The Bold and The Beautiful (414,000), and Seven’s Monday Afternoon Football (411,000) hich only aired in three cities.

This was not helped by Masterchef only reaching number 12 in the ratings with 830,000 viewers.

Home and Away performed strongly for Seven in the 7pm time slot with more than 1.050 million viewers as did Revenge at 9.30pm with 926,000 tuning in.

The ABC managed to edge ahead of Ten just with 11 per cent of the overall nightly audience with the strong line up for Mondays performing solidly; Australian Story (724,000), Four Corners (567,000), and  Media Watch 570,000 for the night.
