HT&E names Dominic Remond CEO of esports business

HT&E has appointed Sydney Sixers’ general manager Dominic Remond as the first CEO for new esports business Gfinity.

Gfinity was launched in August as part of a joint venture with Ireland-based IKON Media & Entertainment and follows a partnership with UK-listed esports promoter Gfinity.

Remond will join the company in February after more than four years with the Sydney Sixers. He will finish the Big Bash League season before taking up the new role.

He has also run his own sales and marketing consultancy, which included working with Brand Faction, Evolution Media, RJ Media and Flame Media. Throughout his career, Remond has worked with brands including Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, SC Johnson & Sons, Schweppes and Bonds.

Ciaran Davis, HT&E CEO and managing director, said Remond’s corporate and marketing experience will be “invaluable” to the esports business.

“His extensive corporate and marketing expertise, as well as his involvement in the evolution of the Big Bash League from its early infancy and the successful commercialisation of that content, will be invaluable as we roll out the eSports business and establish this inaugural city-based franchise league in Australia.”

Remond added: “The role of Chief Executive of Gfinity Australia provides a unique opportunity to be part of the rapidly growing eSports sector in Australia and drive growth for HT&E which has a powerful platform to be leveraged with its radio, outdoor and digital assets.”

The new CEO will join the company ahead of The Elite Series.
