Macquarie media has announced Australian cricket legend Ian Chappell will be part of its commentary team for the 2018-19 season.

The announcement:

IAN CHAPPELL TO CALL MACQUARIE RADIO’S SUMMER OF CRICKET HOME

IAN Chappell is the latest big name to call Macquarie Sports Radio home for the summer of cricket, which gets underway this Saturday night.

The former Australian Test captain has long been a key figure in Australian cricket and will be a prominent voice on Macquarie Sports Radio.

Chappell will team up alongside Sarah Aley and David Morrow in Saturday night’s opening Commonwealth Bank Women’s T20 match between Australia and New Zealand at North Sydney Oval.

Macquarie Media will feature coverage of every ball bowled of all the Domain Test Series, Gillette One Day and T20 Internationals, the KFC Big Bash League and the Commonwealth Bank Women’s International Series on our new network, Macquarie Sports Radio.

Launched in April 2018, Macquarie Sports Radio airs across Sydney 954 AM, Melbourne 1278 AM, Brisbane 882 AM, Perth on DAB+, online at sportsradio.com.au and via mobile app.

It will be the most extensive coverage on commercial radio with cricket set to play an important role in the evolution of Macquarie Sports Radio as a place for sports fans right across the country.

Ian Chappell said: “I’m really looking forward to my fifth season of cricket with Macquarie Sports Radio. Cricket on the radio affords commentators the chance to expand their thoughts in painting a picture for the listener and this is a really enjoyable challenge.

“The big series this summer is Australia against a strong Indian side led by the charismatic Virat Kohli. This is the best attack India has ever brought to Australia and they’ll match up well against the home side’s strong bowling line-up. I’m expecting an entertaining and really competitive series.”

Chappell represented Australia in 75 Test matches and is regarded as one of the greatest captains to lead Australia.

Macquarie Media CEO, Adam Lang said; “It is a great privilege to again have Australian cricket royalty, Ian Chappell, as part of Macquarie Sports Radio’s Summer of Cricket. He is one of the finest experts and story tellers in the game. Ian’s contribution to Macquarie Media has been enormous and once again emphasises our strong position in broadcasting this great game.”
