iappANZ announce their 2018 privacy summit

Industry privacy body iappANZ have announced their annual conference will be held in Melbourne on the 1st and 2nd of November.

As privacy remains a key issue affecting the world, the iappANZ Summit, Privacy: Handling the seismic shift on 1 + 2 November in Melbourne comes at a perfect time on the back of major global regulatory changes in the privacy and data protection arena.

“2018 is a milestone for privacy with the Australian Privacy Act now in its 20th year and the New Zealand Act marking 25 years, with significant reform still on the agenda,” said Melanie Marks, President, iappANZ.

“Further afield, the GDPR is driving unprecedented global regulatory change.”

The International Association of Privacy Professionals (iappANZ) annual Summit is the pre-eminent forum for everyone with an interest in the current landscape and future of our privacy – bringing globally recognised specialists and industry thought leaders together with creative thinkers, policy makers and practitioners.

This year, the iappANZ Summit and Workshops will tackle the seismic shift in privacy and data protection – offering fresh insights and exploring themes of best practice, emerging trends in privacy regulation, corporate, governance, media, technology and innovation.

A diverse set of high level speakers from around the world will be presenting at the Summit including: Kasey Chappelle -10 years in the life of a global CPO. Kasey has held senior privacy roles in global powerhouses such as Vodafone and Amex, and is now Chief Privacy Officer for the rising fintech startup GoCardless. Kasey will talk about serving as a global CPO over the last tumultuous decade of privacy evolution.

Michael FinkelThe murderer who stole my identity. Author of the New York Times bestseller True Story, about Finkel’s bizarre and unhealthy friendship with a murderer, which was adapted into a 2015 major motion picture produced by Brad Pitt and starring James Franco and Jonah Hill.

Dr Carlene MahoneySeismic Shift – How privacy and identity is changing and what this means. Dr Mahoney has over 20 years’ experience working in law enforcement specialising in social media governance, policy development, cyber security, mental health, child protection and organised crime.

Plus hear from the leading regulators: Angelene Falk, Australian Information + Privacy Commissioner, Julie Inman-Grant, Australian eSafety Commissioner, Sven Bluemmel, Victorian Information Commissioner, John Edwards, New Zealand Privacy Commissioner and Russell Cooke, Acting Chief Privacy Officer, New Zealand Government.
