Initiative Sydney’s GM Nick Wokes made redundant

The general manager of Initiative, Nick Wokes, has departed the agency.

In a statement to Mumbrella, an Initiative spokesperson said Wokes had been made redundant.

“As we continue to evolve our competitive positioning in market, we are also adapting our structure to ensure it meets future needs and opportunities for clients. In this process, the role of Initiative Sydney General Manager has been made redundant.

“We thank Nick Wokes for his energy, passion and contribution over the past two years and wish him the best of good fortune in the future.

“Geoff Clarke, Initiative Australia COO, will extend his responsibilities to include the Sydney office and client leadership, effective immediately. With 26 years’ experience spanning multiple sectors such as FMCG, QSR, Finance, Entertainment, Travel and Automotive, Geoff is a highly respected proven agency leader, his skills will greatly benefit Initiative clients and client teams.”

Wokes has departed the agency after two years

Wokes was the general manager for over a year after being promoted from his previous role as group director in November 2017.

Posting to Linkedin, Woke said: “Having recently finished at Initiative, I’m excited to use the next couple of months to spend time helping out on lots of different and interesting projects.

“If you work in a start up, charity, NFP or are just doing awesome work, I’d love to have a chat to hear what you are up and to see if I can help out.”

Prior to joining Initiative, Wokes was media director at Drifter for six months.

He has also worked at Zenith in New York as its vice president of strategy.
