Intruders help MAFS climb to 1.026m metro viewers

Another intruder wedding and more honeymoons helped Married at First Sight clock 1.026 million metro viewers last night, the second time this week the Nine flagship program has jumped above the million mark.

The program was the most-watched of the night, and dominated the 7:30pm time slot, where it went up against Ten’s The Amazing Race (480,000 metro viewers) and Seven’s offering of  Surveillance Oz Dashcam (287,000 metro viewers).

MAFS unsurprisingly took out each of the key advertising demographics, but wasn’t the most-watched program nationally, with Seven News securing 1.495 million viewers including the regions. MAFS garnered 1.388 million including metro and regional audiences.

Seven News was also the second-ranked program of the evening across the 5 metro markets, with 927,000 viewers. Seven News at 6:30 (907,000 metro viewers), Nine News 6:30 (907,000) and Nine News (845,000) rounded out the top five programs of the day.

The ABC had several strong performing programs, with 7.30 bringing in 543,000 metro viewers, and Exposed: Ghost Train Fire, its Caro Meldrum-Hanna led investigation of the 2979 Ghost Train Fire at Sydney’s Luna Park, taking 376,000 metro viewers.

Insight on SBS drew 171,000 metro viewers for its return and first outing since the departure of Jenny Brockie. The flagship news program is now hosted by Kumi Taguchi.

Natalie Barr’s second day as the new co-host of Sunrise delivered the program 239,000 metro viewers, just shy of the 248,000 who tuned in for her debut, and placing it just outside the top 20 metro programs. It still sat well above Nine’s Today which had 186,000 metro viewers.

The dominance of MAFS in the evening delivered Nine an easy win in the network share stakes among total people with a 33.5% metro share. It was followed by Seven with 23.3%, while the ABC climbed into third spot with 17.7% ahead of Ten with 17.6%. The ABC also beat Ten for the second consecutive night in single-channel metro share, holding 13.2% over Channel 10’s 11.3%.
