Intrust Super has committed to an additional three years as the naming rights sponsor of the Shute Shield.

The announcement:

Club Rugby TV Directors’, Nick Fordham and John Murray are delighted to announce that Intrust Super has committed a further three years to the naming rights sponsorship of the Shute Shield.

After experiencing incredible growth and resurgence a prosperous future of Australia’s premier rugby competition is now guaranteed.

CEO of Intrust Super, Brendon O’Farrell is delighted to continue supporting the grassroots competition. After striking a last-minute deal back in 2015, Intrust Super’s sponsorship ensured the broadcast deal with Channel 7 would go ahead.

He said: “It’s been a fantastic 3 years of seeing the resurgence of club rugby in Sydney. There is nothing better than hearing people talk about it in the streets with true passion for their respective clubs.

“Tribalism is back and we [Intrust Super] are extremely excited to be part of this tremendous energy and momentum of success that the Intrust Super Shute Shield is experiencing, and therefore we are looking forward to continuing our naming rights sponsorship of the Intrust Super Shute Shield for a further 3 years.”

This announcement comes ahead of a big week of semi-finals with four teams competing for a place in the finals. Over 10,000 people are expected to flock to Rat Park as arch rivals Manly and Warringah do battle in the biggest game of rugby ever on the Northern Beaches.

David Begg, the President of the Sydney Rugby Union, said, “Long-term sponsorships are vital for the growth and sustainability of any major sporting competition, and in Intrust Super we have wonderful supporters. Brendan O’Farrel and the team at Intrust Super are the perfect fit for our competition.

They love their rugby and really understand the importance of grassroots competitions such as the Intrust Super Shute Shield, which thanks to their support, is stronger than it has ever been.”

Club Rugby TV Director and broadcast rights holder, Nick Fordham, added: “This famous competition wouldn’t be where it is today without Intrust Super and The Seven Network and we are incredibly excited about the potential heights that the Intrust Super Shute Shield can reach. Intrust Super’s commitment has allowed us to showcase our competition across Australia and the world.”

The Intrust Super Shute Shield Grand Final is just over a week away to be held out at North Sydney Oval. After the success of the competition on 7TWO this year, we are delighted to announce that our finale will be broadcast LIVE on Channel 7’s main channel on Saturday afternoon. Saul Shtein, Seven’s Head of Sport Sport says, “The Intrust Super Shute Shield has such a rich and vibrant history and we are pleased to showcase this year’s Grand Final on Seven. We look forward to a great final and celebrating club rugby on Seven.”
