Investigative reporter Ross Coulthart rejoins Nine from Seven for 60 Minutes role
Veteran investigative reporter Ross Coulthart has penned a contract to join the Nine Network, six months after quitting rival Seven after a newsroom fight.
The five-time Walkley Award winning journalist left Seven last November following an altercation between then Sunday Night executive producer Mark Llewelyn and producer Paul Waterhouse.
This morning Nine confirmed Coulthart was rejoining its flagship Sunday evening show 60 Minutes with Coulthart saying in a statement: “I’m delighted to be returning to Channel Nine, the place where I got my first start in TV. It feels like coming home in a way.
“60 Minutes is the holy grail of journalism jobs and I am honoured to be finding a new place at the Network where it all started for me – back with so many of my mates at Nine, and I’m looking forward to breaking some great yarns.”
Executive producer Tom Malone said: “For 36 years, 60 Minutes has led the way in authentic and relevant long form current affairs television, and Ross’ return to Nine will enhance our already formidable team. Some of Ross’ best reports were broadcast on the Sunday program between 1995 and 2008 so I’m thrilled he’s coming back to Nine, and to 60 Minutes.”
Coulthart picked up the Gold Walkley in 2008 for the report he did on Graham Reeves for the Sunday program, before moving over to Seven that same year.

He did leave after the date of the altercation which he helped break up, but is there any suggestion that was related to him leaving?

He is a sensationalistic journalist. He will no doubt be employed on a story by story basis.
Time we had some fresh talent. Just my thoughts……
