Isentia’s Sean Smith named IVE’s CEO of data-driven communications

After announcing his departure as Isentia’s chief commercial officer two weeks ago, Sean Smith has been named CEO of data-driven communications at marketing company IVE Group.

Smith will begin in the newly-created role in January, and be responsible for managing more than 400 staff across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Singapore and Hong Kong. He will also be tasked with bringing together IVE’s data-driven businesses.

IVE Group employs over 1,800 staff, has revenue in excess of $700m, and increased profit by 22% in the 2019 financial year. In its report, the parent company said that it would drop the brand names Kalido, Blue Star, Pareto and IVEO, effective from this month.

Smith spent more than 10 years at Isentia, and said of the new opportunity: “I’m thrilled to be joining IVE at such an exciting time in the business. IVE are in the middle of making some very smart client-centric changes on how they go to market under their new brand launching later this year.

“This coupled with their great people and winning culture is what’s enticed me to make a move after such a long stint at Isentia. I’m looking forward to the new challenge and leading this significant part of the business.”

CEO Matt Aitken said the group is excited to have someone of Smith’s calibre and experience join the team.

“Our continued expansion in data-driven communications is an extremely important part of our overarching strategy. Appointing Sean to this newly created role further strengthens our expertise and market leading position in this space,” he said.

“Sean brings a unique mix of skills to IVE. Spanning 18 years of experience in media intelligence, he understands how to bring together technology, people and data to get the best results. Sean’s an engaging business leader who’s comfortable leading large teams across multiple markets. He’s a great fit for us.”
