One of Australia’s most respected programmers David Mott is quitting his job leading the Nine Network in Perth to take over as head of ITV Studios.

His appointment as CEO comes weeks after Anita Jacoby parted ways with the production house, which makes shows including I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell and current Seven gameshow The Chase.

Fairfax Media is reporting former Seven West Media Perth managing director Ray Wardrop is set to join Nine on November 2 to replace Mott.

Prior to taking his current role as managing director of Nine Perth Mott worked for a decade at Network Ten bringing shows including Masterchef, Big Brother and Australian Idol to TV.

He had also been hotly linked with taking the top job at the recently merged Endemol Shine in Australia, before brothers Carl and Mark Fennessy reversed their decision to leave to remain in the top job there.

In a statement Mott said: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to drive the ITV Studios business forward in Australia.

“ITV Studios has an incredible reputation globally, and I look forward to playing my part in its continued success and growth.”

He is set in November and will report to Maria Kyriacou, MD ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Rest of World.

Mott will be joined by the current EVP, distribution for Asia Pacific for ITV Studios Global Entertainment Augustus Dulgaro as chief operating officer.

She added: “David is an incredibly talented executive with unrivalled experience in production and broadcasting in Australia, coupled with a deep and detailed knowledge of viewers and hit programming.

“He is a fantastic leader with superb instincts, while Augustus has almost a decade of experience of leading ITVS GE’s Asia Pacific sales team to great success.

“They are a dream team for ITV Studios Australia and I look forward to welcoming David into the fold and seeing what they will achieve together.”
