Fairfax digital boss Jane Huxley departs

Jane HuxleyJane Huxley, the well regarded CEO and Publisher of Fairfax Digital is to leave the company, the SMH is reporting.

According to the SMH’s Julian Lee, Huxley’s role has disappeared in a restructuring and she will leave the company at the end of the month.

Instead there will be a “chief product officer” spanning both print and digital.

A statement from Fairfax said:

Jane Huxley has decided to leave Fairfax. She will leave her current position at the end of May but will continue to work on a number of strategic projects for the Metro Media and Marketplaces divisions until June 30.

Metro Media CEO, Jack Matthews, today announced the creation of a new role, Chief Product Officer, which will span product development across all Metro Media platforms.

Matthews said: “Of course Jane would be completely capable of assuming this role and would unquestionably do an outstanding job. Unfortunately, Jane has decided that rather than specialising in a Product role, she would prefer to continue on the path of General Management. For this reason, she has decided to leave Fairfax and seek this path elsewhere. Jane has made an enormous contribution to Fairfax and we wish her nothing but the best in her exciting future.”
