Jerry Seinfeld wrestles a croc for Greater Building Society
In his latest outing for Greater Building Society, Jerry Seinfeld crawls across a deserted beach, wrestles a crocodile and hacks through the jungle in a campaign to show that there is a way to escape the banks. The commercials use footage shot in New York in May last year as part of the building society’s multi-year deal with the comedy star.
Created by Loud, the first two commercials (others to follow later) in the series attempt to show people that there are alternatives to the major banks and that escaping from them is quicker and easier than expected.
Greater head of marketing John Dwyer, said: “While the banks are busy pretending to break up with each other the Greater is focused on offering competitive rates, low fees and superior service.”

If I didn’t read the synopsis at the start of this article, I’d have had no idea what-so-ever about what the point of Jerry crawling through the sand or hacking at bush was about in relation to the Building society.
So, I’d have to say the message was all over the place for me, but that’s just my feedback.

Very confusing I had to watch twice to try and piece together. Which is a shame as the launch creative for this campaign used Seinfeld to good effect and had a clear message. And what’s with the hot model chick in the first one and then the bogan couple in the second. Make up your mind on the real people casting.

I’m so confused by this.

How could you make an unfunny ad with Jerry Seinfeld? I get the feeling they shot the footage with Jerry first without a clear concept in mind and now they’re trying to shoehorn it into an unrelated campaign. Not a good use of Mr Seinfeld’s talents…

Bucks 100% what I was thinking. Without Mumbrella’s synopsis these ads make no sense. Im usually always +1 for building societies and Jerry Seinfeld.. but where is the messaging relating to his actions?

It makes me so sad to watch these – you have JERRY SEINFELD and you made ad’s that are not funny.

What a waste of great talent. These spots are totally nonsensical. If people in the industry who are privvy to accompanying press release are struggling – what chance does the average Jo in the street have?

I’m with Lucy on this…what a waste of Jerry:)

It would have been so easy to develop scripts that linked the Jerry story with the hot blonde chick/bogan couple story. Shame nobody wrote one. Pretty poor effort considering the talent.
