Beyond Blue is seeking a seasoned Communications Senior Adviser to lead external communications and media engagement that supports our 2023+ Strategy: Earlier, Easier, Together. In this pivotal role, you’ll shape compelling narratives, build strong media relationships, and deliver communications that help Australians feel better earlier, get well, and stay well.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders, manage a diverse portfolio of initiatives, and contribute to thought leadership across the organisation. If you bring significant experience in communications, a strategic mindset, and a talent for storytelling, we’d love to hear from you.
As the Communications Senior Adviser, you will:
• Develop and deliver the communications component of the organisation-wide Engagement Strategy aligned with Beyond Blue’s 2023+ goals.
• Lead the creation and execution of annual media and communications plans, including a calendar of external events and initiatives.
• Act as the communications lead for a portfolio of business units, providing strategic counsel and implementation support.
• Monitor emerging trends and news, distilling insights to inform organisational strategy and strengthen communications.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with media, content creators, and key stakeholders to amplify Beyond Blue’s messaging.
• Develop compelling stories and cross-media ideas to promote Beyond Blue’s work across various channels.
• Collaborate with the Speakers team to prepare case studies and media interview materials.
• Write, edit, and proofread key external communications, ensuring consistency, quality, and strategic alignment.
• Provide communications advice and materials for Board reports, presentations, briefs, and stakeholder correspondence.
• Track and report on the growth and effectiveness of communications outputs to demonstrate impact and inform future strategy.
About you
To be successful you will hold a:
• Tertiary degree in journalism, communications, media, or a related field.
• Significant experience in a senior communications or media role.
• Experience developing and delivering communications strategies aligned with organisational goals.
• Have deep understanding of media relations, including managing press engagement and thought leadership.
• Demonstrate success in building and influencing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills, editing and proofreading skills, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with brand messaging.
• Ability to distil insights from news and trends to inform strategy and decision-making.
• Experience managing multiple communications initiatives across diverse teams and timelines.
• Commitment to inclusive practices and ongoing cultural competency development.
