Merchandise Planner & Logistics – Freelance / Contract

Our client is an established international fashion brand of accessible luxury pieces, located in Sydney.

They are looking for a Merchandise Planner & Logistics person to join them on an ongoing freelance / contract (with option to transition to permanent at a later stage).

This role will cover both planning and operations / logistics, and will be a 4 day week, working inhouse with the team, to start ASAP.

As Merchandise Planner you will analyse sales trends, manage inventory levels, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise product assortments and allocations. The role requires strong forecasting and planning skills, excellent communication, and the ability to interpret data to make informed business decisions. The successful candidate will contribute to maximising sales and minimising excess inventory through effective planning and inventory management.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute merchandise plans to meet sales and profit goals.
• Analyse sales trends, historical data, and market insights to forecast demand and identify opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including buying, inventory management, and marketing, to optimise product assortments and allocations.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels, making recommendations for replenishment and allocation.
• Prepare and present sales forecasts, financial plans, and performance reports to senior management.
• Identify and act on opportunities to maximise sales and minimise excess inventory through effective planning and inventory management.
• Contribute to the development of pricing strategies and promotional plans based on merchandise performance and market trends.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Merchandise Planner or similar role in a retail or e-commerce environment.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in forecasting and inventory management.
• Proficiency in industry-standard planning and analysis tools, such as Excel, and merchandise management systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong business acumen and a strategic mindset, with a focus on driving sales and profitability through effective merchandise planning.
