John Porter to remain chairman of Enero despite move to Belgium

The chairman of Enero John Porter has told Mumbrella that he will be staying in the role despite having become CEO of Belgian-based telco Telenet.

Porter last week stood down as the chairman of Ooh! Media Board after taking up the role with Telenet. He was replaced by Michael Anderson the former chief executive of Austereo.

But he told Mumbrella that he would be sticking with his commitment to Enero, which owns agencies including Naked Communications, BMF, The leading Edge and Frank PR

“We’ve been contemplating having a director in Europe because of our businesses in London which are having a pretty good run right now,” Porter told Mumbrella. “Because I was coming over to Europe anyway it made sense for me to be the northern hemisphere board representative.”

He added: “I will be going back and forward a few times a year for our regular board meetings and we have of course appointed Roger Amos as the deputy chair, he is a pretty good hand as well,” said Porter.

Porter took on the role of chairman of Enero group in 2012 and was previously the CEO of Austar before its merger with Foxtel.

Enero was rebranded from Photon Group last year after the organisation emerged from the worst of its financial troubles. The organisation’s current market capitalisation is $34m.
