The Jungle Book tops the weekend box office as The Boss claims second place
Jon Favreau’s live-action The Jungle Book raked in $6.047m across 572, taking its total box office takings to $10.602m.
The film, which features the voice work of Bill Murray, Christopher Walken and Scarlett Johansson, knocked last weekend’s top player The Huntsman: Winter’s War into fifth place.
Melissa McCarthy comedy, The Boss, claimed second spot, pulling in $2.140m in its opening weekend. Since its premiere last Thursday, the comedy has made a total of $2.157m.
The penultimate movie of the Divergent series, Allegiant, made $2.087m across 247 screens on its opening weekend, having pulled in $2.265m since its premiere on Thursday.
Disney’s kids movie Zootopia fell to fourth position after making $1.899m at the local box office across 329 screens. To date the movie has made $23.174m.
Chris Hemsworth’s The Huntsman: Winter’s War fell from the top of the pack to fifth place after making $1.139m across 334 screens over the weekend, taking its total local box office to $4.968m.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice pulled in $997,996 across 307 screens over the weekend while My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 grabbed $997,996 across 307 screens.
