Judges select 84 finalists to advance to second round of 2015 Effie Awards

EffiesA total of 84 finalists from 36 agencies have progressed to the second round of the 2o15 Effies, the Communications Council has announced.

The entries were whittled down by a 100-strong team of industry experts with a second round of judging set for July 14 where the finalists will be assessed for effectiveness by 48 marketers, consultants and researches.

Effies chairman Anthony Freedman said judging is “tough” and revealed that not all of the 19 categories are expected to deliver a winner.

“In light of this, it’s great to see a slight rise in the number of finalists from last year, “he said. “It’s a trend we hope to see continue as our industry builds a greater culture of effectiveness and accountability.”

Chairman of judges Colin Wilson-Brown said the number of finalists demonstrates the value of the work being produced across Australia.

“The next round takes that further, with cases and results assessed through the lens of a senior marketer, providing a client perspective on how agency work is driving business performance,” he said.

Following the second round of judging, the Effie winners will be announced on September 3.
