Judith Whelan steps down from Good Weekend magazine for SMH Saturday role
Fairfax Media’s Good Weekend editor Judith Whelan is to become Saturday editor of the Sydney Morning Herald after seven years running the weekend magazine.
Lauren Quaintance, managing editor of Fairfax Magazines, will become acting editor of Good Weekend.
Fairfax Magazines CEO Lisa Hudson, said of Whelan: “She leaves Australia’s most successful newspaper inserted magazine with robust readership of 1.6 million and an impressive record of awards and achievements to her credit.”
Amanda Wilson, editor of The Sydney Morning Herald, said: “I am looking forward to Judith taking this newsroom leadership role as we continue to develop the integration of Herald journalism across print, tablet and web.”
Tim Burrowes founded Mumbrella in 2008. He worked on Mumbrella until 2021. At various points he was editor, content director and editor-at-large.
