JWT drafts RMG Connect’s Hopper as national CD, digital and direct

JWT has completed the integration of sister-WPP shop RMG Connect into the agency, appointing its creative director Ashadi Hopper to the role of national creative director, digital and direct.

Hopper’s awarded work includes a Gold Effie last year for Nestle’s Kit Kat Chunga campaign. He has also been awarded silver and bronze Cannes Lions, four bronze at AWARD and bronze and silver at ADMA.

In other industry-related activity, he is the co-founder of creative blog, Bannerblog.com.au.

It emerged last year that the RMG Connect network would be merged into JWT around the world, though at the time Noel Magnus, JWT Australia chief executive told B&T Today it would be “business as usual”.

“We are still waiting for further information, but I can’t see this being the end of RMG,” he said.

The subsequent merging of RMG into JWT signals the trend among ad agencies to put digital at the heart of their operations. In 2008, digital agency NetX was effectively integrated into its owner Clemenger BBDO.

Following the latest development, Magnus said: “Digital is a core part of our offering – not merely an afterthought, as in many other agencies – it has a legitimate place at every discussion point along our communications development process.”

The ad agency is also expected to announce senior appointments in digital account management and digital strategy.

Prior to RMG Connect Hopper was creative director at Hyro.
