Kayo Sports locks in multi-year UFC deal

Kayo Sports has signed a new multi-year deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) which will see Main Event become the exclusive pay-per-view channel for UFC fights in Australia.

The deal is a continuation of a 15-year relationship with the mixed martial arts league, and means that UFC fans in Australia looking to purchase a particular fight will need to go via Kayo Sports’ Main Event platform in order to do so.

The first exclusive PPV event will air on January 21, when UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland will take on South African Dricus Du Plessis.

To hype this event, Melissa Leong will host UFC Fight Week, available from today on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, where she, Tyson Pedro and Dan Hooker will break down UFC 297 and interview middleweight champs Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis.

In addition to this, MMA fans can access UFC Fight Nights, UFC Pay-Per-View Prelims, UFC Countdown, DC & RC, as well as various titles from UFC’s Fight Library, through ESPN, available on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.

“We’re excited to strengthen and expand our relationship with the UFC, the fastest growing sport in the world, and 2024 will deliver a line-up of epic battles, kicking on January 21 with UFC 297,” said Rebecca McCloy, executive director of commercial sport at Foxtel.

For those with UFC Fight Pass, the platform will continue to broadcast live UFC fights.

UFC President Dana White, said: “Foxtel and Kayo Sports are the best sports broadcasters in the country and they have backed UFC in Australia since the beginning.

“Together, we will continue to grow UFC in Australia and they will be the destination for the biggest and baddest fights we put on year-round.”
