Kayo Sports to introduce 4K next month

Kayo Sports will be broadcasting in 4K from next month, with over 1,000 hours of ultra high-definition action to air across the year.

From February 29, customers will be able to watch 4K broadcasts of AFL, NRL, cricket, and netball, starting with the season opening Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix with every qualifier, race, and even practice, available in 4K.

With this new resolution comes a change to Kayo’s subscription packages. Kayo One offers 50-plus sports in high definition for $25, while the $35 Kayo Basic package (which is the less basic of the two packages, just to add a layer of confusion) offers the same sporting content, but in the aforementioned ultra high-definition.

“We have five years of understanding our customers and how they like to watch their sport,” explains Julian Ogrin, Kayo Sports managing director.

“The fans have been waiting for 4K and the ability to watch their favourite sports in the highest quality. Our refreshed subscription packages reflect the desire for a simple, frictionless subscription journey that gives customers choice and control.”
