Key sales appointments at Pandora Internet Radio

Pandora Internet Radio is expanding its local operation with the appointment of former Macquarie Radio Network group sales manager Jon Stubley as national sales director and former sales boss at Spiral Media Shaun Alexander as account director.

The announcement:

Less than a year after its official launch in Australia and New Zealand, Pandora Internet Radio has appointed a National Sales Director and Account Director in Australia to drive the company’s commercial growth in the market. Jon Stubley and Shaun Alexander join the company in August, tasked with driving profitability of Pandora in Australia.

The rapid uptake and local popularity of the personalised radio streaming service has led to the expansion of the local operation sooner than anticipated, taking the next step toward growing Pandora’s commercial model in the region.  This includes building the local teams and establishing key business partnerships to establish and nurture a local revenue stream.

After spending five years at Macquarie Radio Network, Jon Stubley joins Pandora bringing extensive sales experience within the music and entertainment industry and proven success in driving revenue and profitability, to his role. His previous positions include Group Direct Sales Manager at Macquarie Radio Network, General Sales Manager at Australian Radio Network, Sales and Marketing Manager at XYZ Entertainment, Account Manager at Nine Network Australia and Account Manager at Triple M.

Shaun Alexander brings 12 years of media experience to his new role with Pandora, the last eight being in digital. Alexander joins Pandora from Spiral Media where he led the sales team across APAC, and CBS Interactive where he was Sales Director.

Jane Huxley, Managing Director for Pandora A/NZ, said, “I’m thrilled to be ahead of our original planning curve in the local market.  The audience response to Pandora in A/NZ has been amazing, reflecting the strength of our music service and a love of music discovery.  This strong listener response has allowed us to meet our targets earlier than anticipated, which means we can now focus on driving revenue locally.  Jon and Shaun are key to our commercial plans and take on the full remit for pushing Pandora’s business to the next level in Australia.  I look forward to working together with them to take Pandora to an even wider listening audience.”
