Fitzy & Wippa commentate on mundane home videos for KFC’s new cricket campaign

Nova Sydney’s breakfast duo Fitzy & Wippa bring a comedic twist to mundane home videos, as KFC taps user generated content for the next round of its Home Cricket Ground campaign.

The duo provide the voiceover for videos showing things like dad cleaning the gutter, a woman walking up stairs with too much shopping and a child making pancakes, as well as a few cat videos.

The HCG campaign first launched three years ago, with the brand this year offering $1,000 for the most-watched video each week. Every entry to the website will go into the draw to win tickets to the cricket.

Shaun Branagan, group creative director at Ogilvy Sydney, said: “KFC’s summer cricket campaign is all about bringing the ‘Home Cricket Ground’ – or the HCG – to life through user-generated content.

“Pretty much everyone has a funny video on their phone that could be made a lot funnier with some comedic commentary from Fitzy and Wippa.”

Catherine Tan, chief marketing officer at KFC, said: “For over 15 years KFC has been has been celebrating cricket across Australia. We are so excited that this year we get to see and celebrate individual highlights from HCGs across the nation.

“We are anticipating Fitzy and Wippa’s commentary will add fun and hilarity to Aussies favourite HCG highlights,” Tan said.

The integrated campaign will roll out via TV, social, PR, digital, OOH, radio and will include match assets and stadium signage.

The campaign launch is partnered with the introduction of the Bacon Lovers’ Burger and a new range of frozen beverages, including Pepsi and Mountain Dew.

KFC’s sponsorship will continue at the KFC Big Bash League and International T20 games around the country.
