Koala appoints VP of marketing following CMO role removal

Koala has appointed Mark Khademi as its VP of marketing, following the removal of the CMO role when Peter Sloterdyk left the business in August last year.

The CMO role was replaced with the chief commercial officer role, which was filled by Rory Costello in September 2021. Costello is responsible for all brand, marketing and commercial teams and activities across the business.

Khademi will report to the chief commercial officer, his role specifically focusing on growing Koala’s brand and business in Australia. He is responsible for customer acquisition, integrated marketing campaigns and all media channels.

Khademi has joined Koala from Optus, where he held the title of associate director, marketing & acquisition. Prior to that role, Khademi was head of marketing at Amaysim. Amaysim was acquired by Optus in February 2021. He has also held the role of CMO at Mojo Power.

On his new role, Khademi said: “It’s an exciting time for me to be joining such a well-loved Australian brand. I’m looking forward to leading the team to continue the phenomenal growth the business has achieved over its first 6 years as we bring sustainable Australian design to more products and categories.”
