Kyle Sandilands labels Ray Hadley and Pedestrian TV ‘piece of shit’ over Intern Pete attacks

Kiis FM breakfast co-host Kyle Sandilands has labelled 2GB radio host Ray Hadley and Pedestrian TV both pieces of “shit”, following their criticism of the show’s producer Peter Deppeler over the weekend.

Deppeler – known on the Kyle & Jackie O Show as ‘Intern Pete’ – was heavily criticised for his stunt during former Australian cricket captain Steve Smith’s tearful press conference. As an emotional Smith apologised for his role in the ball tampering scandal, Deppeler asked a rambling question, telling Smith his behaviour wasn’t as bad as contestants on Nine’s reality TV show Married At First Sight.

The question was widely criticised for the insensitivity of its timing.

“I want to let you know the perspective from non sports community Australians, to see you upset tonight is very sad,” Deppeler said in the press conference.

“We asked our listeners, as I said we are not a sports show, we asked our listeners what we thought about this and we have… mate I’ve got to tell you hold your head up a little bit high for what you have done. Because what has actually been worse is what Dean and Davina did on Married At First Sight.”

Officials then closed the question down before a puzzled looking Smith could respond.

This morning, Sandilands critiqued 2GB morning host Ray Hadley, calling him a “pretend person” and a “piece of shit”.

Last week, Hadley had said Deppeler acted like a “complete dickhead” at the conference. He also labelled him a “buffoon”.

“It’s an act. He makes it up. You see him in the street, he runs off like a coward,” Sandilands said of his rival.

He also dubbed Nine’s youth website Pedestrian TV a “piece of shit”, urging Deppeler to stop reading the publication. Pedestrian published an article which called Deppeler one of Australia’s most hated people.

“Pedestrian is a piece of shit. Who cares about them. They’re such a low grade thing,” he said.

“Stop reading about yourself.”

But Sandilands also told listeners on air this morning he couldn’t give a “shit” about what had happened over the weekend.

“We didn’t know he was going to [ask the question], but I still support him — I couldn’t give a shit,” he said.

“It’s a cricket game at the end of the day. He got death threats the kid, people threatened intern Pete with death and they weren’t mucking around,” Sandilands added.

“How have you become the villain out of the entire ball tampering scandal?”

It isn’t the first time Sandilands has labelled a media critic a “piece of shit”. In 2011, Sandilands norotiously threatened to hunt down News Corp journalist Alison Stephenson, after she reported negative viewer comments about Kyle and Jackie O’s low rating TV show Night with the Stars.

Sandilands also said he “couldn’t care less” about losing Cricket Australia advertising, telling the organisation to “keep their $25 worth of ads”.

Co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson added: “We didn’t shitcan you when you were having a bad week.”

But despite the commentary from the two co-hosts, ‘Intern Pete’ apologised to Smith for his behaviour at the press conference.

“I would like to apologise to Steve. I do feel for the guy and I think that my timing definitely wasn’t right on that, so I am truly sorry to Steve.”
