Is the Network Ten ‘leak’ This Week In Shorts a PR stunt?
Clips have appeared on YouTube of what appears to be a pilot of a topical comedy chat show for Channel Ten. Posted on Tuesday by “the Pilot Pirate” This Week In Shorts is presented by Tom Gleeson and Heath Franklin. The TV Tonight blog is reporting that it “appears to have been leaked“.
However, Mumbrella wonders if it is an attempt at a bit of viral PR. Not long after being posted, all five clips from the show had been voted to a somewhat suspicious five star rating.
Channel Ten’s press office isn’t answering its phone yet this morning, but a test on whether this is an authorised leak or not will come later in the day if the network asks YouTube to remove the clips.
Update: Jael Napper, Network Ten’s Publicity Manager – Light Entertainment says:
“Nobody from Network Ten is responsible for this leak, but I guess in this technology age it’s inevitable that situations like this will happen from time to time. Looks like a good show though!”
The clip below features the hosts discussing the marketing of the Australia movie.
Definitely a stunt. Not necessarily by Ten though.
I wonder if it’s the production house trying to get a series commission over the line?
It’s an okay clip – I’m not sure the public will exactly rally behind it though.
