LG taps David Warner for ICC Cricket World Cup campaign

Screen Shot 2015-02-13 at 3.12.29 PMLG has unveiled its campaign and marketing activations ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup in its role as global partner of the event, fronted by Australian batsman David Warner.

The campaign sees the cricket player appear in ads for the brand suggesting to viewers to immerse themselves in the cricket coverage with an LG TV.

In a statement Warner said: “When I was first approached about being an ambassador for LG, it was something I was immediately interested in because it’s a brand that I genuinely connect with. I am in love with my LG 4K Ultra HD TV!”

Warner’s involvement is complemented with a new TV and digital campaign which is promoting the LG OLED TV which focuses on how life goes beyond the limit. GPY&R localised the ad.

LG Electronics Australia general manager of marketing Lambro Skropidis said: “The opportunity to host a major global sporting event like the ICC Cricket World Cup comes to Australia and New Zealand once in a blue moon, as a host nation and one of the longest-standing global sponsors of the tournament it’s the prime time for LG Australia to really push the boundaries as far as our marketing activity is concerned”

Havas Media worked on the media buy.
