McDonald’s launches ‘snaplications’, invites Australians to apply for jobs through Snapchat

McDonald’s has launched Snaplications which gives Australians the chance to apply for a job with the fast-food chain through a Snapchat lens.

Created by VML Sydney, Snapchat users can now select a lens which sees them in a McDonald’s uniform. From there, they are able to send a 10-second video submission to the McDonald’s Snapchat account, @Maccas.

You can submit your 10 second video of why you want to work at McDonald’s to its Snapchat account

Once submitted, McDonald’s will send the users a link to the digital careers hub and an application form, giving users the opportunity for a formal interview process at McDonald’s.

McDonald’s new digital campaign also includes video Snap ads to reinforce the opportunities.

The new lens aims to engage young people on the platform and to attract new employees.

Mark Wheeler, director of digital at McDonald’s Australia, said the new lens gives young people an opportunity to interact with the brand.

“As a business, McDonald’s is constantly evolving its approach to digital technology, for both the customer and our employees,” he said.

“Our priority is on delivering more easy and enjoyable ways for people to interact with us so it made sense to engage with young people on a platform we know they are on. The ‘Snaplications’ Lens is about giving young people the opportunity to interact with us, on their terms.”

Aden Hepburn, managing director and executive creative director at VML Sydney, said in a statement: “As an agency, we are always looking for new and creative ways to get more out of the tech that’s available to us.

“We’re extremely excited to be leading this innovative partnership between Macca’s and Snapchat and developing a new purpose for the platform.”
