Marcel Sydney’s head of social Alex Sol Watts departs

Alex Sol Watts, Marcel Sydney’s head of social, has departed the agency to study astronomy and do contractual work.

Watts posted a public farewell on his LinkedIn page this afternoon as he departs after one-and-a-half years in the role.

“Today is my last Friday with the team, so I wanna say thanks.

“Sad for what I’m leaving, excited for what’s next,” he said in the post.

Watts joined the Publicis group in November 2014 as digital and social strategist, where he held the role for three months.

During his time at Marcel, Watts worked on clients including Tiger Beer, L’Oreal, Garnier, Berocca, Parmalat and OPSM.

Gavin Levinsohn, CEO at Marcell, told Mumbrella: “It’s a highly mathematical specialist world of work and he needs to re-enter the world of university and study, and what he needs is to be working less so he can do a whole lot of conversion courses and in his role here, we couldn’t manage that.

“As much as we would love to keep him, we can’t have him working shorter time, he has a full-on important full-time job.

“I am only too happy to encourage and applaud him and am somewhat inspired by the people who have the courage to do that,” he said.

Levinsohn said they are in the process of finding a replacement for Watts.
