Mags urged to stop using thin models
Magazines are to come under renewed pressure not to use Photoshop to change the shape of models’ bodies.
The Government-backed code-of-conduct urges magazines to use models of “realistic” body sizes.
It has also created a “body image friendly” logo.
nice idea, but “urging” them to do something they have failed to do time and time again does not bode well for any real success

Considering half of Australian women are overweight, does that mean a “realistic” size model is size 14-16? Sorry, but don’t really want to see roley poley models in magazines. They most certainly won’t make the clothes look good and won’t work for the magazines either.

As a retoucher on a high end commercial level, I believe the real distorted image is that of how much retouching is done and how often.
In reality it’s just the glossy front covers and specific requests i.e album covers.
On high end photography a lot of blemishes are already covered up by make-up and lighting, and lets face it, I don’t think anyone will be prepared to support a logo or movement that asks us to kick the illusion we see every day, that is make-up.
