Major networks unite for Red Cross Flood Appeal in response to QLD and NSW floods

Seven Network, Nine and Network 10 have joined forces in partnership with Red Cross Australia for a telethon event to raise money for those affected by the devastating floods across Queensland and New South Wales.

The three networks will jointly present Australia Unites: Red Cross Flood Appeal, live at 7.30pm AEDT this Saturday the 12th of  March. The appeal will air on Channel 7 and 7plus, Channel 9 and 9Now, and 10 and 10 Play.

The event will feature a lineup of Australian music stars who will perform to raise money on the night, including Tones and I, Jimmy Barnes, Delta Goodrem, Jon Stevens, Vanessa Amorosi, Hunters and Collectors, The Living End, Casey Donovan and Sheppard.

The hosting ensemble will include Seven’s Natalie Barr, David Koch, Sonia Kruger and Mark Ferguson; Nine’s Scott Cam, Sylvia Jeffreys Andy Lee and Peter Overton; and 10’s Carrie Bickmore, Dr. Chris Brown, Amanda Keller and Osher Günsberg, with more names to be announced soon.

All proceeds from the telethon will be donated to the Australian Red Cross, who during disasters like this works side by side with other organisations such as Vincent de Paul Society, The Salvation Army, Lifeline and GIVIT to provide help wherever it is needed most.

Donations to the telethon will help the Red Cross to provide humanitarian support to people and communities devastated by the floods, such as evacuation support and staffing of relief centres and outreach services as well as support to help people and communities recover and rebuild. So far, donations have helped 468 Red Cross emergency response team members and volunteers to provide support in 49 evacuation centres.

As well as the telethon, the Australian Red Cross has launched a flood appeal for those wishing to support. Donations can be made on the Red Cross website or by calling 1800 733 276.
