Major sponsors score on-screen partnerships for Deadpool & Wolverine release
Some major Australian sponsors have secured on-screen partnerships to coincide with the highly-anticipated release of Deadpool & Wolverine in cinemas this week.
Val Morgan Cinema announced on Thursday that sponsors include Stayz, AAMI, Ladbrokes, Chartered Accountants, QUT, Hyundai, Subaru, Samsung, Nando’s and Red Rooster.
“Cinema continues to be the most powerful medium for brands to engage with audiences during major Hollywood releases,” Guy Burbidge, managing director of Val Morgan Cinema, said.
“We’re excited to partner with these brands for the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine. This strategic collaboration offers them an unmatched opportunity to engage with passionate moviegoers across the country, as the film gears up to be one of the biggest cultural moments of 2024.”
The news comes as HOYTS confirmed that pre-sale tickets for the third film in the action-comedy franchise are two-and-a-half times bigger than that of the 2016 original film and the 2018 sequel at the same point in time.
Standard screenings of Deadpool & Wolverine, out in cinemas on Thursday, are already scheduled at all-time highs, while extra screenings have also been added to cinemas all around the country.
Burbidge said the pre-sale figures are a “testament to the enduring appeal” of the Deadpool franchise, led by Ryan Reynolds.
“Building on the phenomenal success of the previous films, with Deadpool holding the title of highest-grossing MA15+ film in Australian history, we fully expect Deadpool & Wolverine to dominate the box office,” he said.
“This sets the stage for a strong second half of the year, featuring highly anticipated sequels like Joker: Folie a Deux, Gladiator 2, Moana 2, Mufasa: The Lion King, and the original film Wicked.”
