Mamamia launches new podcast The Quicky

Mamamia has unveiled its latest podcast, The Quicky.

The announcement:

If, like many, you find today’s news cycle depressing, confusing, boring, or just simply endless, from next Monday 18th February there will be a convenient alternative.

Dropping every weekday morning at 6am, Mamamia’s ‘The Quicky’ podcast will get you up to speed on the top stories, and deep dive on one topic you need to know more about, all in under 10 minutes as part of your morning routine; in your ears whenever and wherever you need it. Together with launch partner, MyBudget, the daily show represents yet another first from Australia’s biggest owned and operated podcaster.

Mamamia’s Head of Podcasts, Rachel Corbett, explained: “The news cycle is often delivered with the masculine focus of “if it bleeds it leads.” It can also be impersonal and assumes a lot of knowledge, leaving you feeling like you’ve turned up to a conversation ten minutes late and are trying to catch up. We want to help women fill that knowledge gap and keep up to date in a more engaging and conversational way without the anxiety that much of the news cycle deliberately triggers.”

MyBudget Founder, Tammy Barton, said: “MyBudget is proud to be partnering with Mamamia to launch The Quicky. Just like personal finance, the news can be overwhelming.

When Mamamia brought this opportunity to us, we jumped at the chance to empower women by giving them more control of their lives. We believe that by making news and important information more accessible, we help women to get on with their day and make better choices for their future.”

Mamamia has assembled a multi-talented team to produce The Quicky. ACRA-nominated journalist, newsreader and radio show presenter, Claire Murphy, has relocated from Adelaide to host the show.

Executive Producer, Elle Beattie, previously spent over a decade producing some of the highest rating radio shows in Australia, including three years as Executive Producer on Nova’s Kate, Tim and Marty.

Ian Camilleri completes the core team, as Audio Producer, joining from Network 10 and with previous sound design experience at the likes of SBS and Fox Sports.
