Manscaped launches first local campaign via Story Machine

Californian grooming brand Manscaped has launched its first Australian campaign featuring AFL star Max Gawn, developed by independent production company Story Machine.

MANSCAPED™, the global grooming company and leading consumer lifestyle brand, has launched its first local campaign in Australia featuring AFL Superstar Max Gawn via advertising agency, Story Machine. The campaign features two hero TVCs, IG Stories, and alternate cuts for digital media that promote The Lawn Mower® 4.0 trimmer and new UltraPremium Deodorant.

The campaign called, “You the man, man”, is all about the feeling of confidence that self-grooming and personal care can give you. In the spots, Max’s reflection becomes his own confidence building hype man as he ultimately convinces the real Max to mow his lawn (shave his balls), and use the Deodorant.

“For our first international athlete commercial, we couldn’t have picked a better partner than Max Gawn. He has a fantastic sense of humour that fits our brand perfectly,” said Joey Kovac, VP of Marketing at MANSCAPED.

“Max is incredibly talented and entertaining out on the field and he really brought that charisma to this production.”

Story Machine Managing Director, Ezra Auperle, said: “It’s been amazing to help such an iconic brand market in Australia. Our Creative Director, Turei Cooze did an exceptional job developing a concept that made our team and the client laugh out loud from the get go. What was equally amazing was how our Director, Ben Mathews, worked with Max Gawn to deliver a scripted performance equal to a top-notch actor.”

This May, the campaign will launch across television and streaming, as well as digital and social media platforms.
